We keep things simple when making Panda Natural licorice
We follow the instructions left as a legacy by our great liquorice maker Väinö Hilden. We make licorice from only a few carefully selected natural ingredients without any artificial nasty ingredients.
We use a traditional method of slowly cooking them together to make a dough. After cooking, we finally press the licorice candy dough into shape. The traditional method of making it this way gives it the distinctive chewy softness.

New Pacakaging
I have been buying Panda Licorice for many years. They have recently updated their packaging — the bar is longer and more narrow — and it isn’t as easy to open as the older bars. They need a tear notch or something, because I have to resort to a pair of scissors.

It’s okay
It’s not the best black licorice I’ve had, it isn’t hard, but it isn’t really soft either. It’s just in the middle. What I wanted was soft, and it wasn’t the soft black licorice I’ve had before.

Expiration date, second time
Today is 3/31. Best Buy date was 3/24. Second time this has happened with this product. I just had a piece of the licorice and it is definitely stale. Panda is usually soft and chewy. NEXT TIME I BUY THIS IT WILL BE IN THE SUPERMARKET, a little more expensive, but I will not have to throw it out. Wake up and pay attention when people order products with best buy or expiration dates.

I have just placed an order for my third box! My son-in-law and I are real black licorice lovers. I bought the first box for myself and the second for him. We both couldn’t believe how wonderfully tasty, fresh and convenient the single serve size portions are! If you want some wonderful licorice this is the best we have had.
We saw this licorice being sold in at a Walgreens in VA. I found it online here at Amazon. The color and taste is terrific and you can’t go wrong. I bought some for my wife as a special gift as she loves black and Cherry flavors. Can’t go wrong.

Best value and taste!
I enjoy a good chewy piece of licorice occasionally. I don’t want tons of scientific names of ingredients that are unknown to me. Plus, I want all the flavor and consistency to be what I believe licorice should taste like. All that being said, I buy this Panda brand and have always been satisfied with the product. I particularly like the individually wrapped thick sticks that are like a ‘chaw’ of tobacco.I rate both the service and quality excellent! Definitely try this Black licorice, it’s good stuff.

Panda changed how they make them. Used to be solid and wonderful. Now, they have air pockets.
Still good taste but not as good as they used to be. No longer solid piece of licorice like they were for years.I am guessing this is a means for them to stretch the product to deal with rising costs.

Past best-by date and just not the same as the older licorice bars
If you remember the older solid raspberry-flavored bars that Panda used to sell and thought these might be close (albeit strawberry-flavored instead of raspberry), these ain’t it. First, the box I got arrived on 3/22/24, and the best-by date on the box is 3/14/24, so it’s already off to a disappointing start. The softness is OK, I guess, not too hard to chew and not mushy. The flavor is odd. It tastes OK but does have an odd aftertaste. Panda, please bring back the old raspberry bars!

Reminds me of licorice from my childhood
In my opinion, Panda licorice is the best there is. When I was a kid in the 1950’s, I could ride my bike to a small store near my home and buy licorice “sticks” for 1¢ each! I loved those licorice sticks, and in my mind, this Panda licorice tastes the same.

Stale and hard in Spring 2024
We love this licorice brand and have it on auto delivery every month. It is usually so incredibly soft! However, the past 3 months we have received increasingly hard and stale packages. We thought it might be a fluke at first, but after 3 months of hard licorice, we are canceling the auto delivery. I hope this seller will re-evaluate the stock they are sending out because it is giving Panda a bad rap.

I love black licorice. I just don’t like all the additives they stuff in most brands. Then, I found this chewy treat on Amazon and had to try it. I must say, I’m hooked. I still have some of the other brands. But, they hide in the drawer when this is handily by. It’s quite flavorful with just the right texture. If you can temp yourself, bite off a piece and put the rest away for later. That is – if you can withstand the aroma that trails behind.Enjoy, my licorice loving friends!This is a fantastic find!

Nasty Products with Zero Customer Service
So these Sellers seem to think saving a couple bucks by ruling out returns on all edible products is better than customer satisfaction and retention. I bought these because they were out of our usual Red Licorice we’ve been buying regularly since around 2004 but with another company with a similar name (Licorice.com vs Licoriceinternational.com). This brand has a heavy aftertaste and wasn’t at all pleasant to eat. When I tried to contact the Sellers I was blocked and not given any service whatsoever. It’s sad. I’m going back to Licoriceinternational.com for fresh products I know I will enjoy!

Best taste off all brands
I love licorice and have tried several brands over the years. I lived in Germany as a kid and the German licorice we got there was the best. The “Aussie” brands are a little too sweet for me.I found this while researching and gave it a try. It’s the best and reminds me of the licorice I got in Germany. The German licorice was made in the candy store and this is pretty close and all natural ingredients.I’ll be buying more

Does Not Taste Like Real Licorice
3/21/24 These Panda “licorice” sticks do not taste like real licorice. They have the consistency of dense bread and an unusual flavor. Real licorice has a “kick” to the taste. That taste “kick” is totally missing from this product. These Panda “licorice” sticks are black/dark brown and smooth on the exterior. The interior is light brown. Seems totally artificial. I will not be purchasing this item again.

Packaging product was shipped in.
3 items were placed in a flimsy paper bag. The box of licorice was one of the items. They should have been boxed. The bag broke and part of my order was missing when it arrived. It looked like someone had taped the bag, but an item was missing. I called Amazon and they will replace the item missing. I think Amazon needs to be more careful on how they pack the merchandise.As far as the product, love the licorice. If you like black licorice this is the best!
