NOT GLASS, but still GOOD quality

I purchased this unit thinking that it would be glass. I was bummed for an entire day when it arrived and found that it wasn’t. Nevertheless, I decided to keep it because, aesthetically, it is very pleasing; and the stainless steel mesh is sturdy and provides a good amount of weight/structure to the product–especially when filled with water. I read that the glass versions can be a bit heavy for some folks, and I thought this might make it a bit unwieldy in a busy cocktail/dinner party setting, which I often host–while also indulging in a state of inebriation. I convinced myself that a glass version might be too much of a risk in such a setting, being that I’ve also read too many reviews of them exploding under pressure.Aside from the safety aspect, there are several details worth noting that make the quality stand out. I like that the spout, activating lever, and the tube are all stainless steel. The tube is also permanently affixed to the rubber gasket which means you can shake the unit without having to worry about it detaching–as in other models I read about. The soda head, dust cap, pressure adjusting cap/top, and charger holder are all thick, hardened plastic–except the the soda head internals. I wish these were all metal, but they appear to have been manufactured quite well and sturdy. The charger holder also has a hard rubberized butt-end–not sure of the reason for this; to absorb impact? The mesh is sturdy being that it’s made from stainless steel–which adds the rigidity and weight to the entire product, but note that it is a mold casting which is only mimicking the look of the woven aluminum braiding or stainless steal links of a classic soda siphon. I suppose this makes sense for manufacturing purposes today–which call for a plastic bottle. Nevertheless, it still looks good sitting on your counter or bar. The metal mesh also helps to keep the contents cold while not in the refrigerator.I provided all the details above because these were the very answers I was seeking when searching for the right soda siphon. Although, I preferred the look and manufacturing quality of many of its components, I might have chosen the competing glass model over this one–simply because I did not have these answers and because of the glass. However, now that I have had the opportunity to inspect and use this product closely, I am thoroughly happy with the purchase. I hope this review is helpful to everyone, especially for the consumer seeking a classic and/or glass siphon. I will update my review in the future, should my thoughts change over more thorough use.One more thing: I should knock off one more star just because I think the seller might be capitalizing on consumers searching for glass soda siphons–most likely by identifying “glass” as a keyword search term for their product. However, I partially blame Amazon as well for not having more control on this. When I search for GLASS soda siphon on Amazon, I expect to get back results for GLASS soda siphons. This product shows up in the top 3 of my search results. Nevertheless, I will maintain the 4-star rating because it is still a well fabricated product and the seller did not make an outright claim of it being glass even though they were vague. Too many people on Amazon fault a product for the seller’s mistake/oversight, despite the actual product being good and deserving of a rating based on it’s marketed specs and targeted consumer. Amazon really should have separate rating systems for sellers and products, since inaccurate/vague product descriptions, poor communication, or bad shipping experiences are no fault of the product itself.

Great value for homemade fizzy drinks.

Prior to this, our family was gifted some discontinued mini carbonator from 2017, made by an old company that got bought out or changed its name. We really liked it, but the darn thing broke in just over a month. Kind of inconvenient, considering we’d just bought about 100 8g CO2 canisters for it. We were about to buy a whole new soda maker along with new 60g canisters for it, when I saw this. This old-fashioned soda maker not only took our 8g canisters, but frankly, we all agree it fizzes better than our old carbonator did! There isn’t really much to break on it; the components are pretty simple, with basically no mechanical parts involved. If you’re used to a SodaStream or Drinkmate or whatever, you might be used to adding the flavoring to the bottle right after fizzing. I don’t suggest doing that with this style of soda maker (and I doubt the manufacturer would either). I recommend adding the flavoring directly to your glass and then adding the fizzy water, or vice-versa.If the fizz is too strong for you, (or you want to use less fizzy water to save on cartridges), I recommend diluting your drink with some regular, unfizzed water.I figure my only complaint is that it’s a little small. This might be annoying for a 3-4 person family who uses their drink maker a lot. For a smaller family (i.e., 2 people or less) though, this isn’t too bad. It’s also a little pricey for what it is, but considering what you spend on the mechanical ones that have a lot more stuff to break, and may or may not do as good of a job, I think it’s well worth it.

The iSi North America Soda Siphon

When I recieved the soda siphon it came in the original box that was pretty banged up, but it had everything in the box. When I started to use it co2 would leak out of the bottle so I could not get all the water out.

Lack of a manual makes use difficult

I need to apologize to the manufacturer. I have actually four of these ISI bottles at home and naturally four chargers. I mixed up the charger for the previous all stainless bottle a few months ago.Initially, no problems but then charging became harder, which I could not understand. Finally I had this episode where the cartridge got stuck in the charger device.Today I used the all the all black charger and had a smoothie charge. Please ignore the rest of your this post… i am keeping my fingers crossed that this bottle will continue to perform as it did today in the future…I will only now ding one point for the lack of a high quality manual (no manual at all in English???) emphasizing which charger to use and be careful not to mix them.I purchased this one on July 18, this year. I have three other models since 2000 or so. Unfortunately, the first near identical glass (I believe), I gave to my music teacher. I gifted another new one to my neighbor across the street.Usually they have been trouble free for nearly 4-5 years each, which is not bad.I HAVE NEVER USED NON ISI CARTRIDGES NOR TRIED ANYTHING BUT CLUB SODA.I was truly disappointed today when the ISI cartridge got stuck after charging the bottle. It just won’t come out. I will ask my handyman to try next week, but am not hopeful.I will need to get a new bottle since I doubt ISI is going to honor their warranty on a Chinese bottle and Chinese chargers….

Mild carbonization, good for tiny kitchens

I moved into a tiny place with no room for a big carbonator or cases of sparking water, and this is a satisfactory replacement. The bubbles are small but the overall effect is nice. I’m still experimenting with water temp, how much to shake, and so on. The first squirt makes a mess, but good after that. One design flaw is that the decorative mesh allows water to get into the base when refilling at the tap. Always flip over to drain before proceeding.

    it’s a nice looking “classic” package…

*edit – today I learned, Soda Water and Seltzer are not the same, per iSI customer service:This machine makes Soda Water, which is more a flavor where our Soda Stream makes Seltzer, which is what pops in your mouth like a pop-rock. This explains why it is flat water by comparison. Thanks for the reply iSi!*Initial reviewThe flavor is on par with any other soda water, however, compared to our soda stream, it doesn’t have as much bite as hoped.Being much more contained and sealed than our older soda-stream bottles, we thought it would have much more bite to the soda. Unfortunately, while it comes out like it will (visually) it doesn’t taste like it’s heavily carbonated.Maybe it’s not supposed to be and “bite” is subjective, meaning those that used these before the soda stream, expect less carbonation (less bite) and just the flavor.Overall, it looks and feels GREAT! It will be nice to display and use at a party (if that ever happens again.)We’ll have to compare impressions with guests in the future to see if they too expected more bite.

Trick: Use Cold Water or put in Fridge!

The trick for getting this soda siphon making good carbonated water, either use cold water or place into the fridge until water is cold, then give the siphon a good shake before using.I had one of iSi’s glass globe siphon but didn’t realize I was giving away a $100+ siphon to the Salvation Army. Had the same problem with the old one providing good carbonation, and only realized this once reading some reviews or the recent newer manual.Easy Ginger Ale1 cup of soda water1 teaspoon brown sugar or common molasses, or sugar, to tastedash of ginger to tasteOptional: ground all spice, cardamon, anise, lemon/lime juice, make a simple syrup for easier use.Works for me!

    Very Disappointed

Though enjoying the carbonated water, I’m very disappointed the lid has to be tightened extremely tight in order for the charger to effectively work and this is impossible for me due to health. Considering the expense and better reviews, I now wish I’d have ordered the ‘cheaper’ brands.

    Why spend more on glass?

Have been making seltzer for over 30 yrs and always had plastic bottles except for “regifted” stainless steel bottle which did not allow for seeing inside-never had a problem with plastic-just do not overfill with water and follow the enclosed instructions. Never had soda maker with wire mesh before-good looking and still allows you to see inside of bottle just like the glass unit. Seeing inside is important I feel, because it allows you to see how close to the top of the bottle you have filled with water (leave about 2 inches space to the top of the bottle about 1 qt.-overfilling can damage bottle and create a leak) and also to see how much seltzer is left before refilling. Save the $20.00 to $30.00 difference for the glass mesh bottle unless you really want it over the plastic. P.S for those of you who would like to try “egg creams” (no eggs just what its called)Fox’s U-Bet Syrup is the only way to go. Comes in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and black rasberry flavors. Chocolate or vanilla most popular. Instructions for making will be on the U-Bet syrup bottles. If can’t find U-bet at your store, buy it on-line. Other brands just not as good in my “egg creamer” opinion. Big treat, as any “egg creamer” from New York or New Jersey knows. Gas chargers are also available on-line if you can not find in local stores.

    better than expected

I was a bit worried that this is a plastic bottle. However, it’s very thick plastic, and seems very durable. This is the first time I’ve made my own seltzer water, but decided to do so for cost. Yes, there is an upfront cost of this bottle, but you can fill it with a CO2 cartridge for about $0.50. On top of that, it stays fresh longer than an opened bottle of soda water.A couple notes: The way the pressurized water is dispensed means there is a bit of water at the top, under pressure, when you unscrew it to refill. if you turn the bottle over and dispense it, that water should clear and you’ll only get air when you unscrew the top.For club soda, you can add baking soda. The only difference between seltzer water and club soda is the addition of sodium bicarbonate (sometime other minerals, but that’s the main one). I recommend between 1/4 and 1 tsp, depending on your taste.

Excellent soda charger, very easy to use.

I had an iSi stainless steel soda charger for 12-15 years. It finally started having leaking problems from worn parts. Got this one and I love it. Looks really classy, has a large fill opening (bigger than my old one) and is easy to handle. The soda stays, well, bubbly all the way to the last bit. Oh, it is more stable with a wider base, as in I keep it in the fridge door and it doesn’t fall over when the door closes. If you’re torn between one like this and the ones that fill a plastic bottle: they both use the cartridges, but this is stand alone, no other “appliance” taking up kitchen space, and the ones using bottles? Every time you open that bottle, carbonation is lost, leaving the last bit flat. And it’s spout is perfectly curved for dispensing into a glass. You can also take out the insert, tool included, to give ease of cleaning. Yep, I am very happy with this product. I definitely recommend.

The first one they sent started leaking right away. But it was replaced very quickly and the second one I have now for a couple of months, it works perfectly. Very easy to charge and dispense. highly recommended.

    Not worth it at all

This bottle worked great the first couple of times! Looks stunning and gave the old timey soda jerk feel this was purchased to achieve. However, I opened it this morning and noticed it has begun to rust after just 3 uses RIGHT INSIDE THE NOZZLE. It’s on the seal inside as pictured. I couldn’t believe it for something that seemed so well made and beautiful. Very disappointed as I will have to go back to the drawing board on what to do for my friend’s party. In using the co2 chargers as well, I noticed that the water didn’t hold bubbles once syrup of any kind was added. The bubbles were very weak already (more like an artisanal soda) but once flavor is added, it immediately goes flat. I also tried to see if batches could be made up ahead of time and bottled (so many different flavors could be stored simultaneously). Everything went flat. I followed all instructions and nothing worked. Also capsules have to be recycled at a scrap yard (not a problem for us) which may not be convenient for most people. There is no way to clean inside the bottle so you can only use water in it as it can’t be taken apart aside from the nozzle. Not worth it regardless of the price but to be so expensive, it was a HUGE FLOP! Don’t waste your money or time on this product.

Has an elegant, old-fashioned feel. And it works

This soda water maker has an elegant, old-fashioned feel. Unlike the soda makers of yesteryear, this one is made of clear, hard plastic rather than glass. (My guess is polycarbonate). I consider that a plus, as the plastic cannot shatter into dangerous shards. (I believe that the traditional mesh in old-fashioned soda makers may have been there to collect the shards in the event of breakage.)The mesh is not the chain mail of yesteryear, but it gives both a good grip on the bottle and has “the look”. Mechanically, it has worked well in the 2 days that I’ve had it. It is more exciting than pouring soda water from a store-bought bottle, or from a “sodastream” bottle. Not only is it more exciting to see the soda water jet out when the lever is pressed, it has the significant advantage that the water near the finish of the bottle will not go flat as does sodastream and store-bought soda! The CO2 cartridges that charge the cold water that you place into the Soda Siphon are not very expensive, and they give a really quick, strong charge. They never run-down or need refilled….if you have a box of them, you know that each cartridge will give you a zippy charge of soda water. These cartridges never leak, unlike the CO2 bottles of the sodastream soda-making system that I mentioned above. These recent sodastream-type “innovations” in soda water makers, have problems. I had one, and I tired of the fussing. One must buy refills of an aluminum cylinder containing the CO2, which are supposed to charge 60 liters of water. They do not. After 45-50 charges they become sluggish, as you try to make a liter of soda water from a cylinder that is almost out of gas.I’ve also used the opaque iSi soda makers, which work on the same manner as this Soda Siphon Classic Mesh Sodamaker. The opaque aluminum ones work. But I prefer this transparent one because I can see how much soda water remains, and I enjoy the traditional flair that it imparts. If you are entertaining, you could dully poor some soda water out of a bottle, or you can prepare the drink with a snappy jet of energetic soda water! For me the only choice is this soda maker…. or the opaque iSi soda maker, if you want to save money. The sodastream is very expensive, and they recently discontinued the blue CO2 cylinders with a screw-on connection, in favor of a pink CO2 cylinder with some kind of clip-on connection. Note: all sodastream customers must buy brand-new equipment, as the blue and pink cylinders are not interchangeable. (There are no adapters, to my knowledge.)I have only one negative comment, which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5: I ordered this 3 times in a period of 2 weeks. The first one I never received, and it was returned to Amazon with an indication that it was damaged and undeliverable. Amazon issued a credit without my intervention (I sure like that.) I immediately re-ordered. The same thing happened! I called Amazon to report it. The agent was concerned and put in a request that the stock be checked….the agent seemed genuinely concerned that defective stock might be being shipped. I ordered a third time, and the iSi North America Soda Siphon Classic Mesh Sodamaker was delivered without a hitch.I’ll never know what happened with those first two Soda Siphons, but I’m glad that i persisted!Hope you find this counsel helpful!

    Need to know

So its not cheap for what it is. Seltzer at the store is basically 50cents to a buck. However it goes flat and you dont always have it on hand, while cartridges last forever. In bulk this thing will let you make a bottle of seltzer for a buck each.Had a lot of issues and being that its plastic on peoples reviews i was skeptical. However its a sturdy grade plastic and not an issue. Additionally there’s no real instruction to use it properly.1. remove neck plug with tongs. remove metal tube.2. add 2-3 inches of ice cubes to empty bottle. This is really a must. They dont tell you that… frozen water doesnt work. Not well. Ice does it perfect.3. fill all the way to neck of bottle.4. insert neck tube. push to secure flush with top of bottle, this will push the water up a little.5. insert metal tube. this will push the water to the top flush, and may spill just a bit… (but not like they instructed, when filling to the top.) its less mess.6. secure tightly the top. the top has a lever on it that dispenses….DO NOT grab that thing when tightening… common sense. You’re going to screw up your seals. Instead place index finger at nozzle, and thumb at c02 peg. turn it secure like that. its firm. not bending anything. particularly you’re moving parts.7. insrt your co2 into adapter, unscrew cap, and place into c02 peg. Tight it all the way.8. bubbles will pass quickly like a fish tank airator…if it slows down…shake it… leave it…shake it… you can use the thing with the c02 still plugged in.9. continue this process until the bubbles stop coming from metal tube at bottom. at that point you can replace co2 cap with regular metal stub cap.10. First spritz is gonna blow air. Either shoot in sink, or empty glass. Don’t shoot into mixed drink. After that you’re golden. and bubbles will be on par with store bought.. You’ll actually be happy with the product.Their instructions really stink. When done right. Great little toy.

Turns simple “arrowhead” water into fancy “Sanpellegrino”!

Design looks fancy, but that’s not the main thing, since you keep it most of the time in fridge… I like that it keeps gas for couple weeks well, and that is enough for me. Last glass has a just a little less sparks, but I personally prefer lightly carbonated water. Good stuff anyway.

Great seltzer dispenser – Here is how to make it

This thing is great, it has saved me a ton on club soda. So far I have made a couple hundred bottles. We use them for cocktails, and sparkling water a S*** load. The trick is using the dispenser right…not correctly as defined by the instructions, but right. It’s absolutely perfect if you do the following:1. Fill about 6/7ths full of cold water. Fridge disp is prob fine but we use distilled out of a 5gal dispenser @41f so no residue. -You can use room temp water, it’s not quite as good but still not bad. -Distilled is best or you risk damaging seals which causes leaks and a short lifespan. -room temp distilled or R.O. Is better than cold unfiltered tap -trust me! -Make sure the water is about 1” from the top of the container!!!2. Twist on a CO2 cartrage slowly – we use the mr fizz ones. (Been through several hundred) -You do not want to hear a thunk but you also don’t want to let gas out of the holder before it makes a good seal. (Don’t worry, it won’t explode…) -A small very very small amount of CO2 escaping is not a big deal, and if a lot escapes, *read further.3. Shake violently for a second or two…wait a couple seconds…again (violently)…again…again (4-6 times within about 20 secs) -You might feel some small thunks at the beginning of each shake. (Fast CO2 in to water from cartridge, don’t worry)4. Wait. A couple minutes is all you need, so most of the bubbles are gone from end tip. Then dispense some fizzy water. -Don’t remove CO2 cartridge. (You can, but better if you don’t) -Not necessary but reduces super gas out the dispenser line when lever is squeezed. -You WILL GET GAS the first time you dispense seltzer. (Don’t worry, totally normal for all human beings) -The dispenser will burp small bits of air at this time. (Don’t worry totally normal)5. MOST IMPORTANT PART. After the first drink has been dispensed (approximately 6-10 oz) LOAD ANOTHER CO2 CARTRIDGE!!! -Your bottle should be about 5/6 – 3/4 full at this point. -Twist the new cartridge in slowly just like step 2, but no real need to shake so violently or much. -You may hear the release seal on container open a bit – don’t worry. -It will spit a bit at the beginning of first dispense just like before.6. Enjoy.Comments:This will yield super fizzy seltzer like a fresh opened bottle through the entire container. I have left one sit for 2 months and it was still exactly the same. The water temp is not a huge deal but colder is better. This seems like a long complicated process but once you get it, takes less that 1 minute. I have tried making seltzer every way imaginable including the other guides here in reviews, this is the best if extra-fizzy-new-bottle is what you want through the entire dispenser.TLDR: You need two CO2 cartridges for a bottle but not back-to-back.Cheers!

    Nice.

Classic style. You can’t fill it up completely to the top but I think that’s a feature to allow for carbonation. I have some difficulty matching the threads on both the spritzer and the charger cap. I have to take it slowly or I’m afraid of stripping them. It’s a delicate but tight seal anyway.I recommend getting 8.4 gram chargers instead of the more popular 8 gram. I like my soda a little more fizzy and the stronger ones do the trick.

This really is a great product and after using it for 2 weeks it works well.If you fill according to instructions and put the bottle in the refrigerator to get the water cold the gas cylinder carbonates really well. Give it a couple of shakes prior to using.I keep it in the refrigerator between uses, this might all it to maintain carbonation. It remains carbonated to the last drop.Very happy with this and it reminds me of those old time soda syphons

Yes it is plastic, but it works well

The description of the item clearly states it’s a plastic bottle. But it looks the part of a classic soda siphon. Works well, and holds a seal. It is pricy too, but some of the metal bottles are the same price range. Quality plastic. 🙂

Perfect Solution for on demand Seltzer

Its a classic, and it works fantastic. I wish the materials felt a little more quality but after 6 months of use I have no complaints about the durability or quality of the seltzer it produces.

Rusted and now all seltzer tastes like rust

Worked great until the threading where you screw on the charger began to rust. I kept this thing clean, and as this rust started to form, it would not get off no matter how much you scrub. It still functions great as it did, just every batch of seltzer tastes like rust.I guess if you need a reliable seltzer maker for a very short time, go for it. Very disappointed with how long this lasted at this price point.

    Fizzy tiny bubble dream

This is great looking and works well. I fill this with RO alkaline water with minerals added and it tastes great.Pros- aesthetically pleasing, makes small “refined” bubblesCons- It’s not instant, you need to wait and let the carbon absorb. It’s expensive, but you are also paying for the design. The alternatives are too hideous to consider.Tips- Make sure you stick it in the fridge for several hours if you want fizzy water.

Defective within a couple weeks and Customer Service Line Doesn’t Work

We got this soda maker and at first we loved it BUT unfortunately, it seems to have a defect. The warehouse and customer service in North America is local so we called for two weeks hoping for tricks, tips, or a replacement. the customer service line disconnects immediately and doesn’t ring. The operator line doesn’t run at all but allows you to leave a voicemail.Because we didn’t want to make assumptions we thought maybe it was the C02 cartridges. Well we received brand new cartridges a few days ago and its not the cartridges, its definitely the soda maker. The 30 day return policy or exchange is not enough for a defective product especially when there are so many elements (pressure, a separate c02, a few different parts that assemble manually etc)

    Fun

I use this a lot. I was buying La Croix by the case and this simple item replaced all that. Squeeze in a touch of lemon or lime, add a bit of cold water then spritz in some co2 and your there. I also love the old school look and enjoy an occasional Chocolate Egg Cream for those of you who know what that is.

This item is really just cheap plastic but it works

I purchased this item a few weeks ago and my first review was not positive but I’m reposting with a positive because I discovered that the co2 cartridges I was using were apparently old, made by the same mfgr as the bottle but expired… Yep they apparently leak down. The taste and fizz with the new cartridges by LeLand are just fine and I’m pleased. The material used to manufacture the bottle and most of the other components is plastic, so I don’t have high expectations for its longevity.

    Very Pleased

I was impressed by the solid feel of the equipment. It is pricey in my opinion but for the long haul may well be worth the money. Friends were impressed with CO2 water makers so decided to give it try. I really like the product. I have added a few flavours after the fact. The system does not work well when the flavours I used were added to the soda water. Thus I add them after. However I really enjoy the staight carbonated water. That is why I have it. I did not get it to make fancy cocktail. CO2 water is good at least as I see it.

    Durability

ahhh, it was good when it started but as time went on its performance started to decline.fizziness got weaker and weaker until two days ago when it started leaking, Soul crushing!I did really like it but it didn’t even last a year, it just broke now two days ago in the current month of March 2024. I bought it in September 2023 and I didn’t even it use it every single day.Disappointing to say the least for its prize, therefore, I cannot recommend it although I liked its size and appearance.

Like being transported back in time…

Came across this in a high-end restaurant in Denmark… was amazed to find it on Amazon and at a very reasonable price point for the quality. A must have upgrade to any bar… Only gripe might be that you need a new C02 cartridge for each bottle full of water, but they are inexpensive and easy to come by.

Not holding pressure overnight in the refrigerator

Really expected a better product for the $$ price. Thought it was made in Austria, but no, China (again). For $90 the bottle inside should be glass. Looks very nice. Time will tell if it holds up like the last one did. We will be using it everyday.

Disappointed with plastic and questionable design choices

This is the first and only isi product that I did not like.First, as other reviewers have stated it is plastic bottle instead of glass. I also think the rest should could have been made of metal.Secondly, bps free but the spout is not PTFE free, which also a concern.Lastly, I do think the bottom should have a small hole in it to drain water that gets underneath. It could be done easily.Overall, I am returning it.

    Works Great

The only reason it doesn’t get a five star review is that the base collects water if you over pour during filling. That means that if you weren’t super careful, water will fly around when you shake the siphon during charging. Overall a solid product that works very well,

    Works well…a little pricey

Yes it’s plastic but the description is clear on that. It’s actually pretty sleek looking but it’s on the pricey side. Works well and I’ve been using it for several months now. Read the instructions— make sure to shake for 5 seconds upon initial co2 loading to get the water carbonated, otherwise put it in the fridge and wait. Remember to use caution, this is a pressure vessel. Enjoy.

    Gas cylinder and tweezers missing

I received my product in good condition, except it was missing the attachment used for loading the canister with gas, as well as the tweezers to pull the short plastic tube out of the canister. Basically useless without it.

Once you install CO2 cartridge all air leaks out. Water has a slight fizz to it, barely anything. Complete waste of money. I would have returned if I used sooner. It does have a great appearance though.

Looks cool but not really functional for extended use

This is mainly a cool party trick, but the carbonation is weak and dissipates almost immediately (yes I chilled the water). And at one quart, you get little use before needing to refill and recharge. Looks really cool when you’re using it though.

    Loved it until it broke

This was great until it broke less than a year after purchase. I had no problems using it until one day it just stopped carbonating – the CO2 canister would release into the bottle but the carbonation was immediately gone, so the water was tart and flat. I recommended this to a friend who bought one, and hers had the same defect out of the box. Waste of money!

Doesn’t carbonate well. Just get a soda stream.

For the money, this is a ripoff. First, you need to use an entire “charger” every time this is refilled which essentially makes this a way for ISI to make money on continuous purchases of those chargers. Other soda makers (like soda stream) do the same thing, except theirs can be used to carbonate dozens of bottles each so it doesn’t feel as bad. Most importantly: this does NOT carbonate water. There are bubbles in it, and if you really, really focus you can *kind of* feel some bubbles in the water. Are they really there, or are you just wishing there were? It’s honestly hard to tell.In conclusion, this is junk because it doesn’t do what it says it does. Get a soda stream instead.

    A Very Stylish Soda Charger

This is a sodamaker with a very classic retro style. If you are disinterested in the shape and style of your soda charger and only in getting something at a cheap price that does the same thing then this one is not for you. My bar is an open area of the house and I like the design of this charger. It works extremely well and is attractive. Finding an antique charger that stills works and isn’t rusty costs much more than this one.

    Looks > Function

Why is “warmth” a category to rate this? Anyway, if you’re looking for a water carbonator where looks trump function, this is the product. Otherwise just get a modern soda stream. A tip: add a PINCH of salt and baking soda to get that club soda taste and to get a little more fizz. At minimum, it looks sleek on your bar.

Attractive + Works Well = Good Value

After reading many of the reviews, the biggest issue seem to be that the soda’s container was not disclosed as plastic and that the “wire” mesh was not the nice interlinked metal mesh like the glass version. While true, you’re not paying near the same price.Thinking again of the price point, this unit is an attractive alternative to the typical soda siphon. The top assembly and siphon tube are better quality than the typical soda siphon. The clear container makes it easier to fill properly.ISI is a respected manufacturer of these products so I’m confident that it should work well for years to come.

Instructions included in every language but English

Buy the stainless steel model. This one looks like glass in the photo, but is plastic. If this is your first such device, it’s useless, since proper use is not intuitive (like, say, the whipped cream maker) and there are no English language instructions. A very thick instruction manual, printed in small, light pink lettering in every language known to man but English is included. Not a pleasant deal for the high price paid. All that being said, it does work as intended, butd if you do not run through a lot of soda, the plastic imparts a taste. Go for a stainless steel model.

Is it beautiful…Sure. Is it cool… Hell yeah. Super fun to use and sort of a talking point…definetely. Good quality…I guess (I`m careful)But!!!…… Does it produce a good or even decent carbonated water or club soda…. Absolutely NO…Kind of a slightly carbonated water. Good Quality

I replaced a stainless steel Innovee soda maker with this. What a difference in quality!! Some people complain about the fact that the bottle is not glass but rather plastic. I wouldn’t have noticed. Because the bottle is clear plastic, you can actually see how much soda you have left unlike the Innovee with a SS body. We are very happy with this unit. If the plastic does not bother you, please get this. You will not be disappointet. Oh, another minor detail. This is made in Austria!
