    Clear ones made in USA, white ones made in China.

    I have used two of these that I bought from Lowe’s and I just put my first Amazon one in my showerhead and will probably buy a second amazon one for a backup soon so I can use it in 6 months. These filters reduce the odor and harshness of the chlorine and other toxins in the water. It does not remove it all and it does not remove ‘sodium flouride’ or ‘hydroflourisic acid’ which I know still gets through into the shower. I know this because of the white powder film that gets stained onto the surface of the shower. This does not happen in places where well water is used. Usually well water showers would just have to keep the iron stains down in the shower if they don’t have good filters at the house. So, in conclusion, without spending hundreds of dollars on a real filter for ‘flouride’ and other toxins, this filter seems to be the best among the cheapest chlorine filters. You can see the yellow sand material get blacker each month until you replace it. When I just replaced this last filter, there was a tiny amount of sand or other material that leaked out of the filter. I have flipped the filter over at least 4 times and didn’t notice this so I suspect that when the filter gets too full of toxins that it filters, then it forces some sand out. This new filter I bought from amazon came with a bit of gold sand like stuff on the outside of the filter, but the filter looks normal otherwise and the sand and other material inside the filter looks normal and full. I am guessing the factory just didn’t clean off excess sand before adding the stickers to the front and back of the filter to keep it sealed. It should still work normally.I lowered the rating from 5 stars to 3 stars recently because it used to be $9.97 (with free shipping)from Amazon in Dec. 2013 and now in mid 2014 it is $16.50 from Amazon (with free shipping). Because of the price Amazon sets, all sellers reflect their selling price based on this. So, even If I would have given this product 5 stars, I feel that the price on Amazon for this product needs to be part of the review rating.This last one that I received from a seller was the same model but the plastic was white instead of clear. There was no clear area in the plastic to see inside the filter to see how dirty it was. Also, the label on this white one said made in china. This white plastic filter also did not have any claims about how much chlorine it could remove on the packaging (which made me wonder if it still has the same filter contents). I am guessing that either Sprite stopped having these made in the USA or they have them made in both the USA and China. The clear plastic ones say they are made in the USA on the packaging. Both the white plastic and clear plastic ones have the same UPC (bar code number).EDIT:I noticed on Aug 1st that the price is 9.97 from Amazon with free shipping eligibility so I put this review to 4 stars. If I find out they are still being made in the USA I would put this review to 5 stars.

    Best shower filter!

    I have natural red hair. My water was making my hair was losing its shine and even color was dull and drying my hair out bad. I put this in my shower it’s wonderful hair shiny,soft and bright again. Helps my skin too keep soft.

    Much better water quality

    I’m in my second one of these filters and I love it. I live in NYC which is known for having good water, but this still has made a difference in my hair and sensitive skin. Price is great and only needs to be replaced every 6 months.

    Noticed the benefits when the last one passed its replacement date and we delayed getting another. Sometimes you appreciate things by their absence. Skin and hair drier, needed to use more soap, soap scum building up more. We have very hard water so anything that makes it better is welcomed.

    Questionable efficacy

    I have a few issues with these filters. They seem to weaken the water pressure of your shower head. This becomes more noticeable as the filter reaches the end of its use. We have very ionized well water where we rent, and I feel this filter does next to nothing for it.The in-line filter housings themselves are flimsy and can crack if you tighten them too much. You also better stock up on rolls of Teflon plumber’s tape, because every 2-3 months when you need to change the filter inside the housing, you’re gonna be re-taping the threadings, praying it doesn’t leak.I’m going to try my luck with other in-line shower filter options, since I can’t exactly install an advanced filtration system.

    Works as advertised

    We have some pretty hard water where we’re at, and no pre-configured connections for a water softener, so it would be costly to get that installed. In the mean time, we found and started using Sprite Showers system and I could immediately tell that my shower water was softer. Worth it for an inexpensive solution to hard water problems in the shower.

    Good deal

    I have been concerned about chlorine levels in our water in upstate NY. If you can smell chlorine in your tap water, then it’s at a high enough concentration to be concerned. Chlorine can disturb your iodine levels and lead to hair loss. This is the best deal I could find on these. I only wish there was a more objective way to tell if the filter is completely used up/spent.

    A solid filter

    The only bad thing about this filter is that it takes a bit of time and effort to remove and switch out. Otherwise it’s a pretty solid filter. It lasts 10,000 gallons or 6 months (whichever comes first) and it does a very good job of removing all the gunk that tap water usually contains. There’s a very clear difference between the old filter and a brand new one. It does wonders for my hair and nails. My only suggestion is if you want to extend the life of your filter then use a low flow shower head. Save on your water bill too!

    Excellent filter, used it for years

    This filter is such a great help with my hard water. I started using the Sprite years ago when I bought a house with hard water. I could never feel clean after showering and my hair had turned to straw. After some research I bought a Sprite shower filter. Within a couple of days my skin and hair felt so much better and were normal again shortly. This filter refill is so good at its job and is reasonably priced so I can replace it as often as I need to. The water here requires it to be replaced every 6 weeks and I had trouble doing that at the price they sell for locally but here on Amazon it’s much more manageable and they come straight to the house. I really wish I could post a video of the difference it made in my hair, any long haired woman like myself knows what I’m talking about! If you have a problem with your water I highly recommend you try the Sprite and use these filters.

    So Worth the Money

    I have really yucky water that is full of calcium, lime & rust. My skin was getting so dried out so I but a new shower head that would accommodate these filters and boy do they make a big difference. My skin is far less dry. Depending on your water source will determine how often you need to change the filter. Since my water is so bad I change mine every month. It is amazing to see how much junk accumulates in these filters. So, all I can say is these work great and the price is pretty reasonable for a pack of 4.

    How do you replace the filter if you can’t open it?

    Every time I’ve had to replace the filter, it takes days of tapping and soaking and gripping and twisting. It’s ridiculously frustrating.

    Defective, Leaks!

    Bought my Sprite filter assembly originally at the Big Orange Box. I replaced the filter once with a filter from there, no problems. Ordered this one on Amazon a little over a month ago, looks exactly the same but…This one leaks, quite a stream, out of the seam where the housing screws together. Ok, I figured the O rings must be compressed/damaged so I bought new O rings today, reassembled, and…guess what? Still Leaks! I can only assume that the filter itself is slightly shorter than the old one and therefore does not seal completely against the O rings. Unfortunately I sent the old one off in the trash before I tried the new one. AND, unfortunately I procrastinated installing the new one and now my return window is closed. NOT SATISFIED!

    I live in Charlotte,NC. where the water is HARD, it makes my hair dry and brittle and makes my skin dry too. I’ve tried a few shower filters and some did more than others but none of them worked the way they were promised, so frustrating. My hair is so soft, AND it improves the water pressure. I am so pleased.

    My conditions work better with this!

    My conditioner wasn’t working properly. My hair was still a tangled mess from our harder water. That is until my husband replaced the filter with this one in our shower head. The old filter was Completely filled with minerals and was hard as a rock! Now my hair conditioner is working properly and my hair isn’t a tangled mess anymore. I’ve has some much less hair shedding since we replaced our filter with this one.

    Affordable shower head filter

    Most states and cities treat their waters with harsh chemicals. Our skin, being the largest organ in our body is like a sponge. What many don’t realize is that these chemicals leach into our bodies and over time can really be debilitating. From severe sensitivities and allergies, to autoimmune disorders due to xic buildup within the body. This is one method one can do to ensure that toxins are not entering the skin when showering. It’s also up to the individual to remove toxins from products that are often Laden with them. All it takes is a little bit of research of what these compounds do over time in the human body, and it’s not good. A lot of these ingredients are not allowed in other countries, but that’s another topic altogether. GO NATURAL!!

    Do not shower without one!!!

    Stop chlorine, chlorine byproducts, Legionella and Giardia Lamblia that the lower water temperature in the water heater tank doesn’t kill.

    Water pressure back to normal after replacement

    I had this filter and it was time to change it as the water pressure was so low and annoying! After replacement, water pressure back to normal! I can’t really say anything about the effectiveness of the filter! I guess that needs testing kits!

    Do a good job

    I have been using these filters for several years. They seem to do a good job of removing the chlorine. You can smell the difference in the water. I live in a small town where they are always working on the water lines. We sometimes get dirty water coming from the faucet, but never from the shower head. Have been very happy with these.

    Water from shower feels so clean, especially when new

    I don’t know if its just my imagination, but the water that comes out of my shower feels so clean, especially when i first put the replacement on. Make sure to buy a shower head that supports this product, but I definitely recommend! Best to change every 6 months!
